THE MAESTRO & MANAGEMENT SCHOOL

PROGRAM

The Brussels Maestro & Management School provides training and practical experience to enable conductors to

  • competently handle any conducting situation,

  • meet the many demands of orchestral playing,

  • offer a unique opportunity to understand and master a chosen repertoire over the course of its seven-days program.

All conductors are full-time, active participants.

All conductors receive daily rehearsal time on the podium and perform in concert at the end of the course.

The school accepts four to twelve conductors per session.

Conductors should bring their scores for the entire curriculum.

The quintet acccompanying the tuition is made of young musicians from Brussel's Conservatoire. This small ensemble is not meant to have set up as such in advance since the goal of the afternoon tuition is to teach each conductor to create out of nothing a cohesion between the musicians.

SCHEDULE

The Brussels Maestro & Management School consists of a seven full-days tuition, from Monday till Sunday, during three different periods of the year, winter, spring and summer.

All participants arrive on a Sunday and remain till Sunday's afternoon final performance.

The everyday tuition is divided in two main sessions : one in the morning, consisting of private lessons with the maestro and a more practical session based on applying the morning's lesson with a quintet.

Musicians are strongly encouraged to broaden their experience by participating in eachothers lessons and concerts.

The school's rigorous weekly schedule, equivalent to that of a full-time orchestra, prepares musicians for a professional career.

Public concerts with a piano quintet are presented on Sunday afternoon at 4:00 pm.

In addition, the evenings will be devoted to the managenemnt part of the course: guests of the business world will come to the School to share their experience of conducting and management with the students.
